Massillon Review Endorsements

The Massillon Review team will be examining the various contests for city offices chosen in the May primary, and we will be issuing candidate endorsements.

The crack Massillon Review research team is thoroughly studying the candidates, checking the facts, and meeting round the clock so that we make informed, reasoned decisions when endorsing candidates for Massillon public office.

We take this task with all the seriousness that it deserves. Our goal is to provide our faithful readers guidance as they choose the people to lead our fair city.

Allegations of Bias

We are not immune to the criticism. We realize that some people have accused us of bias.

Some people believe that we take sides and some people have even suggested we have an agenda.

People should be rightly suspicious of our personal feelings impacting our journalistic integrity.

We are well aware of what we have written;

"The Massillon Review will not be attending this event (Kathy Catazaro-Perry's fundraiser) as we do not wish to see Kathy Catazaro-Perry defeat our beloved mayor for life" (The Massillon Review, February 24, 2011).

and our response to Kathy Catazaro-Perry filing petitions to run for mayor;

We make the following pledge to our readers;

We will work tirelessly to set aside our bias and personal support of Mayor for Life Frank Cicchinelli's candidacy so that we may make a fair endorsement decision in the Democratic primary for mayor.

The Kathy Catazaro-Perry supporters have our word that we will provide her an honest chance to obtain our coveted endorsement.

We promise.
